The first sweep took ten positions between 70 and 97 per cent of the rung, because that is where the two free rows had been reported, and found every one of them already free. The second took ten between 61 and 70 per cent and bracketed the change between two of them. The third took nine at the five-decimal grid and put it between 0.00998 and 0.00997. A mark is a position cut; a filled mark is a rise whose slot still has two walls.
